RAT CITY ROLLERGIRLS

the rat city roller girls, which is a league of 4 roller derby teams, had an exhibition event here in town. of course we had to go!

here are the four teams coming out an warming up in front of a packed house. see, i told you guys everett was a classy city!

look at those bodacious bettys. in a moment of crystal clear clarity i realized that after years of aimlessly searching i had found all i could ever want in a woman.

finally the start of the event. a competition pits two teams of 20 skaters against each other. the competition consists of "jams" where 5 players from each team take the floor. jams last two minutes long and when its over the players rest and another group comes out on the floor for the next jam. here a jam is about to start and the skaters are lining up.

notice the two girls in the back. they are called jammers. each team has a jammer and they are the ones who score points. they get a point for each member of the other team they lap in bounds AFTER the first lap. the girls up front are blockers and they attempt to prevent the jammers from scoring points by knocking them out of bounds or on their butt.

they are off!

the jammers are attempting to make their way through the pack and blockers are setting up position. mayhem ensues!

its a truly action event some some bone crunching body checks. there was even a fight!

you cant possibly go to such a great event without supporting the cause. we all got t-shirts.
